Opal. Ethiopian. Ring. Large 10 x 8mm Gem W/ Blue-Green Color Play; Set in a Sterling Silver Ribbed Self Accent Ring, Size 7. 50+% Off !!!!

$499.95

REAL, not 'created' African Opal is slowly overtaking the former predominance of the Australian opal business. Ethiopia has emerged as the opal capital of Africa, with the finest, largest, most valuable opal stones in Africa coming from that country. This NATURAL gem is a large 10 x 8 Gem, weighing ~ 1.5 carats. The GEM is set in a nice Sterling Silver self accenting setting to accentuate the color of the opal gem. The color play is good with a variety of colors across the spectrum with predominance of blues, greens and orange. GEMVAL rates the color as X1-GB - Green-Blue shift, with a value of $405.00 per carat, yielding a value of $607.00 for the GEM only, not including the setting
.
As an introductory special, we are discounting this ring by over 70+% of the Gem price, selling it at $99.95, a major reduction in the face of the GEMVAL valuation. You cannot even compare this price to that of the FAKE, 'created,' man made, so called 'opal' stones advertised throughout the internet. This GEM is a real, natural Opal from Ethiopia, that will likely appreciate substantially in value over the coming years, as the Ethiopian opal mines are mined out, just as were the Tanzanian Tanzanite mines in the past decade.

Opal was first discussed by the ancient Roman historian, Pliny the Elder; he called in opulus. He and most other ancient scholars believed it to be the most mysterious and bewitching of all gems, and wore it for luck, healing and protection. They also wore opal when venturing into dangerous places.

NOTE: Although beautiful, opal exhibits less hardness than many other gems. It has a Mohs hardness rating of 6, as compared to sapphire (9), topaz (8), and amethyst (7). As such, care must be taken when it is in a ring setting rather than a setting such as earrings. It is not recommended for daily ring wear given its lack of high hardness, making it prone to chip if hit by something harder (e.g. metals like steel, and even some glass). Dinner ring/cocktail ring occasional use is recommended. We have offered this ring setting of opal due to demand we have experienced. Just be careful when wearing it; don't remodel your kitchen with the opal ring on your finger ! :) In fact, don't wash dishes with the opal ring on your finger as opal behaves like a 'living gem,' that can absorb liquids in which it is immersed, causing color deterioration.

More Opal Mysticism and Lore:

Opal contains the colors and qualities of literally every other stone. It is thought to enhance psychic powers. Opals are worn during astral projection in order to protect the wearer and to facilitate the process. Opal is also believed to assist in recalling past incarnations: the opal is held in the hand, gazed at, with one’s attention moving from color to color until a psychic state is achieved and the wearer can use their mind to go into the past life. In the past opals were used to create invisibility by wrapping the stone in a fresh bay leaf and carrying it with the one who desired invisibility. Also thought to be the ideal gem to promote astral projection.
